Comprehensive Endoscopy Services

At JACE Private Clinic, our focus lies in delivering excellent endoscopy procedures and investigations. Our experienced medical team employs cutting-edge technology to ensure precise diagnosis and effective treatments.

Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the use of an endoscope—a thin, long, flexible tube equipped with a camera and bright light at the end. Through either the mouth or rectum, the endoscope is inserted into the body, allowing for a comprehensive visual examination of the gastrointestinal tract. This enables the identification and evaluation of various conditions.

Throughout the process, our skilled professionals prioritise your comfort and well-being. We are committed to providing personalised care and delivering accurate results, promoting your overall health and peace of mind. Trust in JACE Private Clinic to provide you with the exceptional care you deserve.

Symptoms that may require an Endoscopy Investigation

Abdominal pain

Persistent or severe abdominal pain, especially in the upper abdomen, may necessitate an endoscopy investigation to evaluate the cause, such as ulcers, gastritis, or gallstones.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

Chronic heartburn, regurgitation, difficulty swallowing, or chest pain associated with GERD may require an endoscopy to assess the extent of oesophageal damage or the presence of a hiatal hernia.

Persistent nausea and vomiting

If you experience chronic nausea and vomiting without an obvious cause, an endoscopy can help identify conditions like gastroparesis, gastric outlet obstruction, or peptic ulcers.

Unexplained weight loss

Sudden or significant unexplained weight loss, coupled with gastrointestinal symptoms, may warrant an endoscopy to investigate potential causes such as tumours, celiac disease, or malabsorption disorders.

Gastrointestinal bleeding

If you experience recurrent or significant bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, an endoscopy can help visualise the source of bleeding, such as ulcers, polyps, or abnormal blood vessels.

Anaemia

Unexplained anaemia, especially when accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms, may require an endoscopy to determine if there is an underlying gastrointestinal bleeding or malabsorption issue.

Iron deficiency

Chronic iron deficiency, even in the absence of anaemia, may necessitate an endoscopy to identify the source of the deficiency, such as gastrointestinal bleeding or malabsorption disorders.

Persistent diarrhoea

Prolonged episodes of diarrhoea, especially with associated abdominal pain or weight loss, may require an endoscopy to examine the gastrointestinal tract for conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, or microscopic colitis.

Suspicion of gastrointestinal malignancies

If there are concerns about the presence of gastrointestinal cancers, an endoscopy can aid in detecting tumours, assessing their size and location, and obtaining tissue samples for further analysis.

OesophaoGastro-Duodenoscopy (OGD)

Gastroscopy– Also known as Upper Endoscopy or OesophagoGastro-Duodenoscopy (OGD) is a procedure that involves looking at the upper part of the digestive tract with a long, narrow and flexible gastroscope with a bright light and camera at the end to investigate the oesophagus (food pipe), stomach and first part of your small intestine (duodenum). If necessary, the endoscope facilitates the collection of small tissue samples (biopsies) for further analysis.

You may need to have a gastroscopy if you have any of the following;

Persistent nausea and vomiting (particularly vomiting blood)

Trouble or pain when swallowing food (dysphagia)

Heartburn, indigestion, or pain in your stomach that doesn’t go away even after taking medication

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is a test used to check inside your bowels. A long, flexible, tube with a camera and bright light at the end is called a colonoscope. The colonoscope is inserted into the rectum and guided through your large bowel allowing your doctor to examine the lining of your bowel.

You may need to have a colonoscopy if you have:

Changes in bowel habits

Presence of blood in the stool

Unexplained anaemia (low blood count)

Screening for colon cancer

Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

A Flexible Sigmoidoscopy is a test that is quite similar to a colonoscopy, where the colonoscope is inserted through the rectum. However during a flexible sigmoidoscopy, the colonoscope is guided through the lower part of the large bowel. If you are experiencing changes to your bowel habit or experiencing rectal bleeding, you may require an examination of the lower part of your large intestine (bowel).
