Private Consultation vs Procedure Pricing
A plain-English guide for patients comparing consultation fees, treatment guide prices, and what may be quoted separately before care is arranged.
The consultation fee is the first appointment
Consultations at JACE Private Hospital are £250. This covers the outpatient appointment where the consultant reviews your symptoms, history, referral details, previous results, and likely next steps. It is not the price of surgery or a procedure.
Procedure prices are separate guide prices
If a procedure, investigation, scan, injection, or surgery is recommended, the team will explain the relevant guide price before anything is arranged. The final route can depend on clinical findings, anaesthetic choice, theatre requirements, and whether extra support is needed.
Why prices can change after assessment
Private healthcare pricing is clearer when the clinical pathway is clear. A patient enquiring about hand symptoms, bowel symptoms, urinary symptoms, or varicose veins may need different investigations or treatments after consultant review.
What to ask before booking
Useful questions include whether the price is for consultation only, whether procedure costs are separate, what follow-up is included, whether insurance authorisation is needed, and what information the consultant should see before the appointment.
